    I am torn with best practice in terms of vocabulary….lead a unit/chapter with vocabulary students will encounter/use with definitions, examples, and non-examples OR provide terminology, definitions, examples, non-examples to students when they need it in order to make sense of a concept and fine tune their understanding?

    I’m definitely in the latter camp. Words learned without need don’t stick well anyway. I like this little ignite from Dan Meyer about creating the need for the vocabulary before teaching the words:
